Kintampo South gets more projects

The Kintampo South District Chief Executive, Alexander Gyan, has reiterated the NPP government’s resolve to complete all viable and development-oriented projects initiated by the previous government for the benefit of the citizenry.

Has was speaking at the inauguration of a 300-bed capacity Boys’ Dormitory for the Jema Senior High School at Jema, capital of the Kintampo South District of the Brong Ahafo Region.

The project was started by the previous government but has been completed and put to use by the current administration to create additional space for students of the school, most of whom are beneficiaries of the government’s Free SHS policy.

The DCE also distributed 700 pieces of dual desks to some schools in the district and also commissioned a 6-unit teachers’ bungalow at Jema-Nkwanta and another bungalow for the District Magistrate.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Jema recently, the DCE announced that work on the construction of a 1000 metric ton warehouse with ancillary facilities, under the government’s One-District, One-Warehouse project, is progressing steadily.

He explained that the project, when completed, would serve as the main storage facility for maize and other cereals grown in the area as part of measures to control post-harvest losses, which is a key component of the government’s Planting for Foods and Jobs policy.

Mr. Alexander Gyan further mentioned other projects being undertaken by the Kintampo South District Assembly as an office complex for Fire Service Station with ancillary facilities, a Maternity ward complex for the district hospital, and a 40- unit market stalls all at Jema.

The DCE charged contractors working on the new projects to avoid shoddy work and endeavor to complete them on schedule, hopefully by the end of this year.

As part of the programme, various items worth Gh.c 81,440.00 were given to 58 physically-challenged persons to boost their businesses and lead meaningful lives. Thirty- seven (37) others also received various sums of money amounting to Gh.c 23, 600.00 to venture into animals husbandry.

The Nkonsoohene of Jema, Nana Gyan Boffour, who chaired the function, was extremely grateful to the government for the numerous development projects being undertaken across the district.

The Presiding Member of the Kintampo South District Assembly, Hon. Daniel Wiafe Akenten and a host of other dignitaries were all present at the occasion.
