Five teenagers before court for robbery

Accra, OCT.11, GNA- An Accra circuit court has remanded five teenagers between the ages of 15 and 20 for allegedly robbing a military officer and two students of their mobile phones and other materials. The accused persons, Yakubu Mustapha also known as Yakubu Adams, Mohammed Mustapha, Hafisu Adul Aziz, Tijani Mohammed and Jamil Osman where put before the Accra Circuit court, presided over by Mr S.K Asiedu for allegedly robbing Kennedy Tsinashie and his friend Alamisi of their phones and other belongings.

Narrating the facts, the prosecutor, ASP George Ablevhim told the court that on October 12 Tsinashie and Alamisi attended a beach party at La.

After the party, they were attacked at knife point by Yakubu Adams and Mohammed Mustapha and ordered them to submit their mobile phone or get killed.

Alamisi tried to escape with the phone but was stabbed by Mohammed and they took the phone away in the company of ten others and fled to their base at Nima.

The second complainant, a senior army officer was also attacked at about 1930 hours by the accused persons when he parked his car to receive a phone call only for his phone to be taken and other items taken from his car. The teenagers made away with his military camouflage bag, which contained his passport and other items.

The complainant then raised the alarm and two military personnel chased the accused persons and arrested Mohammed Mustapha. He then led the Military police to a hideout at Maamobi, where Yakubu was arrested and the student's phone was found on him. Hafisu Abdul and the other accused persons were then arrested at Nima. A search was conducted on them and the army officer's digital camera was retrieved.
