UNIWA Appeals To AMA For Access To Space

The Union of Informal Workers Association (UNIWA) on has appealed to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to give their workers access to space and to also collaborate with the Association in the country.

The General Secretary of UNIWA, Mrs. Deborah Freeman said, the Association has been facing many challenges with the AMA and therefore, they have taken the decision and step to collaborate with AMA to support them with Access to space, Environment enhancement eg; Sanitation and Engagement.

"We came here to talk and discuss with the AMA to seek their support and create this relationship which will resolve all the issues emerging on daily basis with the Informal sector".

The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, on his part, called on the Government to support the Informal workers in the country to grow their business.

He further stated that they can resolve their concern through public engagement and to encourage them.

Mr. Adjei Sowah advised the Informal workers to avoid partisan politics and urged them to support each other so that the Union will stand strong.

The General Secretary of the Union of UNIWA of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Madam Deborah Freeman, also called on the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to involve them whenever they want to fix taxes in the country.
