More Religious Leaders Fight Gays And Lesbians

The Reverend Father Samuel Dodoo, a Priest at Saint Cecilia Anglican Church, has expressed indignation at the practices of Lesbianism, Gay, Bisexuality, and Transgender (LGBT) and the call for its legalisation in the country.

Father Dodoo told the Ghana News Agency in an interview after delivering a message that LGBT was not acceptable as the Bible condemned it and cited the story of 'Sodom and Gomorrah' as a perfect example of how God condemned the acts.

Evangelist Allan J. Locke, of the All Souls Baptist Church (Dromo Temple) described LGBT as a sinful practice which was against God's purpose; but stressed that those practising it should undergo psychological counselling with a bit of warm attitude.

The Reverend Edmund Kojo Anum, Head Pastor of All Souls Baptist Church, told the GNA that LGBT in all cases was sinful and wrong. 'This act was the major reason why Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed and people practising need serious divine intervention as God hates it'.

Reverend Father Sampson Abdulai, the Catholic Priest of Yendi Diocese, urged government not to legalise LGBT stressing that, 'God created the world in an orderly manner and from a religious perspective and such people should be treated with respect and not stigmatised, free from abuse, as well as given due diligence.

'In as much as we are against it, we should recognise individuals who are willing to stop these practices and help them'.

Reverend Francis Nyarko, Head pastor of Christ Apostolic Church International at Awoshie also in an interview with the GNA after delivering a message said marriage between a male and female was a normal and acceptable act but LGBT was an unacceptable and devilish act and must be stopped.

He called for national prayers against the act because it was spreading faster than expected.

He added that, parents who sacked their lesbian and gay wards because of their religious background could not be blamed as they could not accommodate such practices in their homes and encouraged people in the LGBT act not to walk into the house of God for salvation.
