Refuse dumps invading Abossey Okai [PHOTOS]

The city of Abossey Okai is now a refuse dumping ground for the residence. Shop owners, traders, and street sweepers. Taking some munites walk through the community, our team were welcomed by various heaps of smiling refuses.

Interrogations with some of the traders and the shop owners who live around such unhygienic environment, most of them tried to put the blame on the Street sweepers under the National Youth Employment Programme module. Some of the residences claim the street sweepers are the major contributor to such situations.

It is obvious that a lot of people bring out the organic waste from their homes and dump them there which is very nauseating and unfortunate.

According to some of the traders who live closer to the refuse scenes, the Zoomlion and the refuse collection team instructed them to leave the refuse there for later collection and due to that most the residence, traders, and the shop owners have taken advantage of that and heaped up those refuse there.

We tried our possible best to speak with one of the street sweepers who lives around but she refused to speak on the matter.

The residence, traders and the shop owners who are exposed to this smutty environment are now appealing to the government to come to their aid by instructing the Zoomlion Refuse Collectors to be swiftly in their collection since it imposes high-risk health conditions to those who live around and also cars which ply the roads.
