We Can Hit Back , But Will Not - JAK

President John Agyekum has pointed out that government's silence, in the face of recent allegations, provocations, does not presupposed weakness, on the part of government. Government he stated has been restraining itself from responding to the provocations and abusive language just to ensure national cohesion.

"This is not a sign of our inability to talk back, but we have decided to turn deaf ears to the abusive languages being used on me, and my men in government", he stated. President Kufuor who bared his teeth when members of the Standing Committee of the National House of Chiefs called on him at the Castle, Osu yesterday, maintained that "we know the source of this abusive language, but what will be the use if the political atmosphere is over-heated?' he questioned. The chiefs led by their President, Odeneho Gyapong Ababio, were in the Castle to discuss matters of national interest. Continuing, the President whose rare response to attacks from his political critics were made known, noted that government believes that Ghanaians have been oppressed for quite too long, and that, the country's motto: "Freedom and Justice", has not been enjoyed by Ghanaians, since independence. It was with a view to changing this situation that informed government's decision to remove the yoke imposed on them, so that they can speak and think freely, as it is the case today, he indicated. Government, he observed wants to remain focused on its agenda of developing the nation.
