Kwabenya Police Raid: The Story So Far

Day 1: The capital, Accra, woke up Sunday morning the shocking shooting to death of a police officer at the Kwabenya District Police Station in the Greater Accra Region.

That same day, the police in a swoop, picked up a number of people for screening, in the hope that they could rearrest the escapees as well as the members of the gang who shot and killed the officer.

Day 2: On Monday, a day after the raid and the killing, a police officer told Joy News the slain officer was hiding in his vehicle when he was hit . The vehicle had broken down.

The wife of the late police officer narrated how the news was broken to her in a Joy News interview.

The policemen at the Kwabenya Police Station remained defiant, insisting they were not perturbed by the attack and the unfortunate killing of their supervisor .

Security experts warned that attacks on the police would continue unless something drastic is done about police operations .

Day 3: Retired army officer, Captain Budu Koomson, said police training must evolve .

Parliament summoned the Inspector-General of Police, David Asante Appeatu over the killing of police officers in recent times.
