Use Your Pulpits To Propagate Environmental Cleanliness--Nkoranza South MCE

Madam Dina Attaa-Kusiwaa, the Nkoranza South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has appealed to religious leaders to use the pulpit to promote environmental cleanliness to prevent the outbreak of an epidemic in their communities.

She also pleaded with traditional rulers to collaborate with the Assembly and Unit Committees members to organise the people to undertake clean- up exercises to prevent outbreaks of contagious diseases.

Mad. Attaa-Kusiwaa made the appeal when she joined the residents of Nkoranza, in the Brong-Ahafo Region to undertake a clean-up exercise in the township, on Saturday, to start a regular environmental sanitation campaign to keep the Municipality clean.

The exercise, which was held simultaneously at other suburbs, including Nkoranza-Zongo, Kassardjan, Kransieso and Sessiman was supervised by officials of the Environmental Health Division of the Municipal Assembly.

The people cleared rubbish piled up at the refuse dumps, desilted choked gutters, swept the streets cleared overgrown weeds.

The MCE described as negative, the practice of littering the streets and the compounds, saying that, such habits must stop.

She said it was unfortunate that some people played politics with communal labour, and entreated residents in the Municipality to be patriotic and participate in all sanitation programmes, since an outbreak would not discriminate as to which party one belongs to.

She praised the people for participating in their numbers and urged them to maintain such communal spirit to enhance the development of the Municipality.

Mr. Kwame Adu-Gyamfi, the Presiding Member of the Assembly commended his colleague Assembly members for organising the people in their electoral areas to undertake the exercise and announced that the Assembly would make the programme a monthly exercise across the Municipality to promote a healthy surroundings.
