The Northern Regional School Feeding Secretariat has organized a training program to school caterers on nutrition, kitchen safety and personal hygiene.

The program started on 19th December, and is supposed to last for three(3) days.

According to the regional coordinator of the program, Madam Felicia, the caterers in the region are zoned into three(3), with each zone comprising seven (7) districts.

“We have zoned the region into three(3). So yesterday we had seven (7) districts here for the training. Today also seven (7). Then we will move to Yendi to train the eastern corridor caterers”, she said.

When asked if the program has made the desired impact on the participants, Madam Felicia answered in the affirmative.

“Some of them didn’t know the measurement per the number of children they are cooking for. Through the program they are aware. We have enlightened them. The main aim of the program is to increase enrollment and decrease malnutrition in children. But now they know”, she added.

Meanwhile, one of the participants from West Gonja told ghana360news.com that she was happy to partake in the training.

“I thank our coordinator for the training she has organized for us. It has given us education on things we didn’t know. And we will apply it when we get back home”, she said.
