Voice Or Text: The Power Of Choice

Its 5am on a Monday morning and like every urbane dweller, your phone is the first thing you reach out for. There are several things we reach for the phone for, time check, messages, social media updates, news alerts etc. for some it might just be to make that first call to a significant other who is obviously out of town. But what if the significant other is in another city with as much as four to five hours difference. Would you want to rouse him/her from sleep? Probably not.

However, imagine while still in the sublime mood, in the peace and quiet of your bedroom, you record a passionate message of endearment and encouragement to your significant other for him/her to wake up to five to six hours later. Listening to such passionate message from a loved one first thing in the morning will brighten their mood for the entire day. Moreso, it is an exciting way of expressing your thoughts and feeling while making sure you don’t disturb their peaceful slumber.

Then again you might want to wait to speak with your significant other immediately he/she is awake. This is fine, but don’t forget that he/she might be in a haste to get ready for work, not forgetting the early morning rush which will include a background filled with noise from traffic, and other commuters jostling to get to their various destinations on the one side and constant distractions from colleagues, work demands and frequent break-ins on your side. This does make early morning tete-a-tete a bit difficult. However, sending a text message (though devoid of all the distractions) will definitely not have the same effect.

Thankfully for people who fall under the category of listening to their loved ones rather than reading, Voice SMS does exist and slips perfectly into that space. So you wake up and while still in the peace and quiet of your room, you record a voice SMS which can be listened to on the other side, and the message can be played over and over again throughout the day.

However there are those who would prefer a traditional text, rather than a voice SMS for various reasons; for one you can’t reply a voice message in a noisy environment or when you are in a restricted environment, a corporate meeting for example, a quick text comes in handy.

We love texting because it enables the receiver respond almost immediately, the ability to interact with friends and strangers across continents and carry on conversations with little or no lag time, makes texting a definite hit. Step in Social Media and OTT apps and texting moves to a new level. The ability to sends an endless amount of text for “free”. The ability to send endless messages, and depending on the app, the added advantage of photos and videos. However it could possibly be a bit tiring to have to type or read texts constantly. Having a conversation via text can be monotonous, lacks tone and sometimes the message could be misinterpreted. While texting is fun, adding voice to texts make it more vibrant.

But imagine the ability to "text" without having to type, the ability to interact with texts without having

to read them, that is the dynamism voice SMS brings, leaving traditional text messages with its limitations of 160 characters light years behind.

While texting provides an avenue to build relationships across platforms, an exciting way of building more intimacy would be listening to each other’s voices. Being able to listen rather than read, record your views rather than type brings a personal touch to communication and interaction via social media.

There are various apps that give you the opportunity to select what options works for you at any point in time; regular text or voice. Some provide this service totally free while other charge a premium for the unlimited messaging provided.

While these apps give you the luxury to choose between speaking and typing, allows you to decide if you want to read or listen to your messages, the Kirusa InstaVoice app , in addition to the “luxury of choice” allows you send voice messages/chats to your contacts and loved ones who may not have the app or even those that may be using feature phones. Unlike other apps, whose service is limited to one mobile phone numbers, with the Instavoice app you can link multiple phone numbers to one app; you don’t have to download an app for each number. Moreso, if you send a message/picture/file in error, the Instavoice allows you to retract and it will be deleted from the recipient’s mobile. You should try Kirusa’s InstaVoice app today.
