One Dead After 3 -Storey Building Collapses In Techiman

Information reaching Sunyani based radio Metro 90.5FM indicates that one person has been confirmed dead when a three-storey building, which was under construction collapsed at Techiman market of the Brong Ahafo region.

The deceased is believed to be the security man who guard the building.

Narrating the incidents to Metro FM, Seidu Mumuni, who also security man at the site said the incidents occurred at dawn around 3:30am on Wednesday near Wa station in the Techiman market.

" The contractor and his men even came to work on Tuesday the day before the disaster, as the building has reached the third floor" he said.

"It happen without our intention, my coworker who is dead was asleep while I was around but not inside the building "he added.

Meanwhile, Hon. John Kofi Donyinah Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for Techiman visited the scene with the Police, Fire Service, NADMO and all other stakeholders.

The MCE condemned the act of shoddy works being done by some contractors in the region," we would not tolerate shoddy work from any contractor in the municipality as we will keep monitoring some contractors this time" he added.
