...And Chinese Galamsey Queen Aisha Wept!

It was a pathetic scene at an Accra Criminal High Court on Tuesday afternoon when Chinese ‘Galamsey Queen’ Aisha Huang broke down in tears after the trial Judge; Justice Ekow Baiden set June 2, 2016 for hearing of a bail application argued on by her lawyers.

Aisha Huang who is standing trial with five others for engaging in illegal mining, was hoping to have been granted bail today after her lawyers argued that she was not in the best of health and required medical attention outside the confines of her detention centres.

But the presiding Judge after listening to the application deferred to June 2, 2017 a decision that obviously did not go down well with the suspect and her accomplices which means they will stay in detention till the next adjourned that.

This was said to have moved her into tears compelling prison wardens and immigration officers as well as her lawyers to make attempts in consoling her.

She was also said to have banged her fists in anger and in protest over her continued detention.

The thirty-one (31) year-old Chinese woman Aisha Huang, who has acquired local names like – Aisha and Yaa Asantewaa prior to arrest by immigration officials was reported to be boasting with her influence and showed how untouchable she is.

She was first put before court on Tuesday May 9, 2017 but remanded into prison custody alongside five other Chinese male nationals and was expected to reappear on the 23rd of May following a plea from the Immigration officials asking for time for further investigations.

Justice Ekow Baiden also said he did not believe the suspects will make themselves available if granted bail and therefore refused them bail on their first appearance.
