Metro Mass Staff Sacked For Stealing GH₵1.50p

A staff of the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) has been dismissed by management of the company for allegedly misappropriating One Ghana, Fifty Pesewas (GH¢ 1.50) belonging to the company.

His sack which shocked colleagues was revealed by the Local Union Chairman of the MMT Workers Union when the Deputy Minister of Transport Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover paid a working visit to MMT terminals and offices on Tuesday to acquaint himself with operational challenges.

Emmanual Awatey revealed to Accra-based Adom Fm that the unnamed worker was asked not to return to work when it was detected that the said amount under his custody could not be accounted for during an audit when management of the company are worst offenders when it comes to misappropriation of funds.

“Management of the company have spent resources of the company on employee fitness officer in the company when there are more pressing things that the money can be used for like constructing a new sub standard pit for servicing of cars.

“And they rather had the guts to sack a worker over common one cedi. As am speaking now, the worker is still at home because he misappropriated one cedi. It is just uncalled for and needs to be addressed immediately,” he stated.
