GIS Intake XI marks 10th Anniversary

Accra, March 25, GNA - Professor Kwame Frimpong, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University for Professional Studies has decried the increasing spate of lawlessness in the country, with an urgent call on the law enforcement agencies to do more to ensure peace and order.

He was convinced that the more the laws of the country were enforced Ghana would become a better place.

'The day the laws of the country works, 70 per cent of our problems would be solved overnight',' Prof Frimpong said.

The don, was the Guest of Honour at a ceremony in Accra, which formed part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary celebration of the induction of Intake 11 members of the Ghana Immigration Service.

He reminded the immigration officers that their mandate was a call to national duty, and to discharge their duties diligently devoid of self-aggrandizement, that would go to enhance the progress of society.

Prof Frimpong noted that Ghana was blessed with abundant human and natural resources that were needed for her development but the negative attitudes of citizens had adversely drawn back the nation building efforts.

He said effective leadership in several circles of the Ghanaian society remained a challenge, and further called for attitudinal change to reduce the self-centered tendencies exhibited by some public officials' when they assume positions of leadership rather than working for the public interest.

Prof Frim0pong encouraged the officers of the Ghana Immigration Service to exhibit humility, honesty and firmness in the discharge of their duties and strive to be a blessing unto others.

Mr Kwame Ansua Takyi, the General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) congratulated the intake XI Group, and urged them to be more positive in their work attitude, since 'attitude sums up everything.'

The GIS boss urged the officers to be more punctual to duty and pursue their work as servants of the nation to make the world a better place for all.

Other activities by the intake XI members to mark their ten-year anniversary included; a donation to the Akropong School for the Blind, fun games, dinner and a thanksgiving service.
