SDA Choir Union convention ends at Offinso

Offinso (Ash), April 4, GNA - A traditional ruler has advised choristers and members of other church singing groups to let their lifeclasss and attitudes to impact positively on members of the communities in which they live.

They should also compose and sing songs that would help raise moral standards in the society.

Nana Wiafe Akenten III, Offinsohene, gave the advice at the closing of the 14th biennial convention of the Kumasi Zone 'A' Choir Union (KIZACU) of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) church at Offinso on Sunday. The five-day convention, which brought together choristers from zone 'A' of the Central Ghana Conference of the SDA Church, was under the theme: "Total Commitment for Christ through Music".

Nana Akenten deplored the current spate of immorality in the Ghanaian society and attributed it to the blind copying of the European cultures by the youth.

He said Ghana had rich culture and traditions that promoted morality, good ethical values and uprightness among the people. Nana Akenten urged Christians to desist from acts that could undermine their chances of entering into the kingdom of God. Mr Joseph Yaw Oduro, Offinso District Chief Executive, reminded Christians of their responsibility towards the state and urged them to play their roles efficiently to promote national growth. Pastor Peter Abraham Mensah, President of the Central Ghana Conference of the SDA Church, urged Christians to be sincere, pure and commit themselves to the principles of God.
