Court Remands Driver,25 ,In Prison Custody For Defiling 13 Year Old Girl

Nsuta(Ash) Jan.12---Nsuta Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour Lydia Osei Marfo, today remanded Kwadwo Sarpong, 25,a driver at Asante Mampong in prison custody on two counts of defilement and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty and he is to reappear in court on Thursday, February 2,2017.

Chief Inspector Nana Boamah told the court that both the victim and the accused live at Dommeabra near Mampong in te Ashanti region.

He said on December 23,2016 at about 7 am, the victim,a 13 year old primary five pupil at Mampong Methodist Primary school was sent by her grandmother to go and buy food for her.

The prosecutor said on her way going the accused met her and intentionally pushed her and when the five cedis she was taking to buy the food felt on the ground.,the accused quickly took it and started running away.

He said the victim chased him crying and on reaching an uncompleted house,the accused dragged her into a room and forcibly had sex with her.

He said,after the act,the victim started bleeding and she rushed home and reported her ordeal to the parents who lodged complaint with the Mampong Police.

The Chief Inspector said the complainant, who was the victim's mother took her to Mampong District Hospital and after medical examination and treatment,the police arrested the accused the following day,December 24,2017,charged him with the two offences and arranged him before court.
