Farmer Arrested For Transporting ‘Wee’

Police in the Northern region have arrested a 30-year-old farmer for attempting to transport some compressed substances suspected to be Indian Hemp.

The suspect, Zaku Braimah was arrested at Karaga with “five large bags” of the substance upon a tip-off, police spokesman told Starr News.

Northern regional Police public relations officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said an accomplice of the suspect was at large.

He refused to give details of the escaped abettor, saying it may endanger investigations.

According to him, the police believe the substance were being transported to Techiman or Kumasi.

“He was arrested with compressed dry leaves substance suspected to be Indian hemp, large quantity in about five large bags. It was being transported from Karaga to Tamale en route to Techiman or Kumasi, so upon a tip-off he was arrested but his accomplice managed to escape,” he narrated.

ASP Tetteh said the substance would be sent to the crime lab for forensic examination but added that the suspect would be provisionally charged for possessing ” substance believed to be Indian Hemp”

The suspect has since been put into police custody.
