Gov't secures loan to construct interchange at Tema roundabout

The Government has secured funds from the Japanese government to construct an interchange at the Tema Roundabout to ease Traffic congestion.

The Roads and Highways Minister, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini is confident the construction will begin in 2017 following assurances from the Japanese government.

The heavy traffic at the Tema Motorway roundabout which has persisted for years has been a major concern for motorists and residents of Tema.

The situation has taken a toll on productivity in the industrial city, surrounding towns and the country's capital, Accra.

Speaking in parliament on the issue, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said completion of the interchange will expand its capacity to contain the volume of traffic on the road.

He said in a short term, the Ministry of Roads and Highways and the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority have provided additional dedicated right turning lanes and circulatory lanes to ease traffic on the Tema Motorway.
