McNeil Steps Forward To Face Bazooka

Finally,twenty-six-year-old American, Clint McNeil, has signed up to engage Ike “Bazooka” Quartey in ten rounds of pugilistic action on January 14.After several unsuccessful attempts by promoters Lou DiBella entertainment to pit the former WBA welterweight champion up against a suitable opponent, McNeil has taken the bold initiative.

Many other boxers have avoided Bazooka in the past because of his hard-punching class. Many may predict an easy fight for Ike considering the fact that he is a more robust and accomplished boxer. This is also buttressed by the fact that McNeil lost his last fight to Hector Camacho Snr and has a rather modest record of 18-9.

But the Minnesota-born boxer might have a lot more in store for Quartey and must be given the benefit of the doubt.Quartey, on the other hand, is away at his gymnasium at Kokrobite, a suburb of Accra, and is taking gruelling exercises from his trainer Oko Odamtten.

He is ready to prove all his critics and sceptics wrong. But for now all boxing fans have to wait patiently and begin the countdown to January 14.
