CRIRSCO annual meeting welcomes ninth member, Brazil

The Committee for Mineral Reserves International Reporting Standards (CRIRSCO) welcomed its ninth member, Brazil, at its Annual Meeting on Monday, 30 November, in Brasilia. The current members are Australasia, Canada, Chile, Europe, Mongolia, Russia, South Africa and the USA. CRIRSCO has a Strategic Partnership with the International Council on Mining & Metals (ICMM).

The National Reporting Organisation for Brazil is the Brazilian Resources and Reserves Commission (CBRR), whose President is Mr Felipe Holzhacker Alves. The parent bodies of the CBRR are ABPM (Brazilian Association of Mineral Exploration Companies), ADIMB (Brazilian Agency for Minerals Technology, Research and Development) and IBRAM (Brazilian Mining Association). CBRR has developed a Reporting Code compliant with the CRIRSCO Template and has established procedures for the Registration of Qualified (Competent) Person and a Code of Ethics, with suitable provisions for disciplining its members.

The nominated CBRR representatives to the CRIRSCO Committee are Mr Edson Ribeiro and Mr Thomas Brenner.

The Chairperson of CRIRSCO, Dr Harry Parker, said he was delighted with the election of Brazil and congratulated CBRR for the excellent work the team from CBRR under Mr Alves had done to progress so quickly from the Memorandum of Understanding signed in May to membership this week.
