Occupy Ghana to 'occupy' polling stations in 2016

Pressure group Occupy Ghana has applied to the Electoral Commission to be given an observer status to enable members monitor the 2016 general elections.

The group which has been at the forefront of political activism particularly against corruption in the country says it is keen to ensure that next year’s election is held and results declared in a free and fair manner.

A leading member of the pressure group, Sydney Casley Hayford announced this at the forum held in Accra to observe Occupy Ghana's first anniversary Thursday.

Casley Hayford revealed that the group would set up it "machines" at polling stations across the country.

Every activity at the polling stations would be monitored, he said, to ensure that “we are going to get free and open elections”.
