Court Orders Ali Gabass To Open Defence

The gender-based Violence Court in Accra has thrown out a submission of no case application filed by lawyers of gay doctor Sulley Ali Gabass.

Gabass' counsel wanted the judge to free his client because they argue there was no case for him to defend.

However, the court ruled on Thursday the embattled medical doctor who allegedly sodomised a 16-year-old boy has a case to answer to.

The court has ordered him to open his defence on May 13.

Dr. Gabass is alleged to have had anal sex with victim on five different occasions.

The victim reportedly met Gabass on Facebook after they chatted online and communicated on phone for a while.

The suspect subsequently arranged and met the victim at the Kasoa Market area last year.

According to the Police, Dr Gabass had three more anal sex with the victim after the first encounter

The state prosecution has called five witnesses.
