Kufuor Denies Playing Tribal Card

President Kufuor has debunked newspaper publications that his government was using the institution of chieftaincy to promote tribalism in the country.

He stated that the government recognised the chieftaincy institution as an instrument of development and would therefore not discriminate against any chief.

Every chief is a chief, President Kufuor said, adding “I will not discriminate against any chief.”

President Kufuor made the remarks when the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu yesterday.

The Asantehene called to brief President Kufuor on his recent trip to the USA and Great Britain.
