NDC Served With Writ To Halt National Congress

Congress (NDC) has said it is ready for a showdown in court after being served with a writ aimed at stopping its impending congress.

The ruling party has scheduled December 20 for its national delegates' congress in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi to elect national officers such as chairman, general secretary and organiser among others.

The party's Director of Communication James Asante confirmed the party has received the summons and are poised to face its disgruntled member in court next week.

He was, however, optimistic that the congress will come off and the court case will never be “a hindrance” while speaking to Accra-based Citi FM.

The Member of Parliament for Afram Plains North, Emmanuel Aboagye Didieye, claims he was unfairly disqualified from contesting the national organiser position of the NDC.

The failed aspirant is accusing the vetting committee of acting unconstitutionally in his disqualification and wants the court to place an injunction on the national congress until the matter is resolved.
