Candidates owing school fees to be barred from accessing results

Koforidua, July 7, GNA - Mr Asiedu Budu, Assistant Headmaster of Ghana Secondary School, in Koforidua, has warned Senior Secondary School Examination (SSSCE) candidates, who have not paid their school fees to settle the arrears in order to gain access to their results on the Internet.

He said the Ghana Education Service (GES), adopted the punitive measure to recover all outstanding arrears.

Mr Budu was speaking to the Ghana News Agency, when a team of journalists from the Agency visited the School to access the progress of the SSCE in the New Juaben Municipality, which began on Monday. Publication of examination results on the Internet was an innovation of the GES to save students the drudgery of getting access to their results.

There are 15,175 candidates from 74 public and private SSS sitting for the exams in the Eastern Region as against 11,989 in the previous year.

The Pope John Secondary School had 618 candidates while Ghana Secondary School had 617, including 407 females with 2 male candidates absent.

The New Juaben Secondary Commercial had 301 candidates of whom 132 were females, while the Koforidua Secondary Technical School had 472 candidates with 33 females and 4 males absent at the start of the examination.

The Assistant Headmaster of the school, Mr Kofi Asmah, explained that three of the absent candidates had travelled outside, while one of them had died.
