2015 Budget Show Worse Times Ahead of Ghanaians - Bernard Mornah

The General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Mr. Bernard Mornah has predicted economic difficulty for most Ghanaians in 2015 with reference to the 2015 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of government read in Parliament on Wednesday.

According to Mr. Mornah, the projection of a 17.5% tax increment in petroleum product prices as indicated in the budget statement was an indication of bad times ahead of Ghanaians.

Speaking to Univers news' parliamentary correspondent, Jonas Nyabor, he said "if the 2015 budget is projecting increment in petroleum product prices as then it means there are hard times ahead for us in 2015"

He added that the budget failed to highlight the vital link between Agriculture as the backbone of Ghana's economy and trade and industry.

Describing the budget as generally a positive one with 'pluses and minuses', Mr. Mornah commended government for stating all the projects it had undertaken using the various loans contracted although he believes government could have done better by proving the exact amount of money used for each project.

The 2015 budget statement as presented by Finance Minister Seth Terkper to parliament on Wednesday sought to promote inclusive growth, value addition and diversification and was under the theme, “Securing the bright medium term prospects of the Economy".
