Unifier Tackie-Komme heats for NDC regional chair

…says there are a lot of apathy and bickering in NDC
Jonathan Nii Tackie Komme

“There are a lot to be done because at the moment I can see that there is a lot of apathy within the NDC in the region. Most of our structures are not well organized; there is a lot of bickering among the executives, MP's, Assembly members and others. There are a lot of problems, as we speak now there are some Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies within the Greater Accra that have no presiding members or yet to have their MCEs,” Mr. Jonathan Nii Tackie-Komme, former NDC Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo Constituency, has said.

The Former MP for Odododiodoo constituency has opened his bid to contest the Greater Accra regional chairmanship race in the upcoming national delegate congress of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in October this year.

Hon. Tackie-Komme is contesting Ade-Coker, the sitting Regional Chairman of the NDC.

According to him, when elected, he will form a Task Force to move into the various constituencies to identify and to resolve differences for the purpose of unity.

He will also set up an information desk in each of the regional offices to provide a constant passage of government information and programmes from the centre to the grassroots.

He raised the need to conscientize the youth and women on Public Private Partnership (PPP) programmes that will provide an opportunity for them to create their own jobs.

According to Tackie-Komme, a careful review of the party structure requires that more need to be done to strengthen the unity.

According to him, he finds it difficult to fathom why the driving force of the party cannot heal all the internal wounds festering from within.

“I think the centre is not holding as it should, so I wanted to come in and offer the little that I can do, to bring all those who are sitting on the fence, the disappointed grassroot supporters who felt neglected within the party together,” he made clear.

Tackie-Komme pledged unity first adding that “am coming as a unifier so that I can bring all of them (the mainstream and the downstream) together for us to be able to retain the presidency and even more, bring onboard our orphan constituencies to retain the party in power come 2016.”

The former MP, has also expressed his wit of boldness to wrest the three orphan seats thus, Ayawaso Central, Tema East and West from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) come 2016.

This, he told the PUNCH has been the main reason why he wants to takeover the regional chairmanship slot to turn around the fortunes of the party inroder have a strong and vibrant front to defeat the NPP come 2016.

He said the NDC party needs his good leadership and organizational capabilities combined with years of experience and the long standing relationship with the rank and file to unite and restructure the party against persistent challenges.

When asked how prepared he is towards his campaign, he said some veteran politicians have already declared their support to help him win the chairmanship slot before and after nominations are opened.

Tackie-Komme, who served as an MP for 8 years before losing the primaries to Nii Lantey Vanderpuye in the Odododiodioo constituency has played a yeoman's role in the NDC party and has chaired many boards including the current committee on sea-fearing activities formed by AMA to resolve the conflict between Ga-Mashie and Chorkor.

According to him, he has been supporting the incumbent executives with good ideas but he is not satisfied at the level of leadership within the party.

He believes that ideas can only be best practiced and implemented by one-self and therefore, this is the best time for him to prove his mettle.

His class of campaign, he told the paper is devoid of acrimony, insults, attacks, lies just so that the party can find it very easy co-relate and unite all the aspirants after the elections.
