Akufo-Addo On The Run

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

Ghanaians have not forgotten the day Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the only known Ghanaian politician who has never conceded any political defeat, brashly organized a press conference and with his supporters surrounding him, confidently told the whole world that he has what it takes on his chest to floor President Mahama and claim the presidency.

The press conferencewas purely political and meant to raise the fallen spirits of the NPP supporters including Akufo-Addo himself, who were crestfallen after their humiliating defeat in the 2012 Elections.

During the press conference, Akufo-Addo made a laundry list of accusations claiming that the Electoral Commission (EC) aided President Mahama to short-change him of victory in the 2012 Presidential Election.

One of the accusations by Akufo-Addo which later found its way to the doors of the Supreme Court was that the EC created 28 ghost polling stations during the elections to aid President Mahama. And Akufo-Addo did not mince words in saying that he has the evidence which he will provide in due course.

It was therefore natural that the Supreme Court which is hearing the case, ordered Nana Akufo-Addo on February 5 and 7, 2013 to provide the EC, President Mahama and the NDC further and better particulars on the alleged 28 ghost locations.

But Akufo-Addo, whom we have been told that he simply went to court in order to prevent the NPP from collapsing after his defeat in the polls, simply vamoosed from the allegation. Nana Akufo-Addo has so far failed to provide any information on the so-called 28 ghost polling stations.

This became evident when lawyers for Nana Akufo-Addo and the two other petitioners after responding to the Supreme Court's order to provide further and better particulars on their so-called bogus allegations, simply cut and run by failing to provide any information on the so-called 28 polling stations.

Many people are wondering why Akufo-Addo who claims to have solid evidence on all the self-classd allegations he enumerated could not back his claims on the 28 imaginary polling stations with any evidence.

With holes being punched on all the contentions that Akufo-Addo has made concerning the 2012 Elections, many people believe that it is gradually sinking in to Akufo-Addo that there is a clear difference between mere allegations and concrete evidence.

Now with Akufo-Addo's refusal to comply with the Supreme Court's ruling of February 5 and 7, 2013 to provide particulars of the alleged other 28 locations where voting took place, we are all waiting to see how he would justify his refusal to provide the supporting evidence.
