Unemployed remanded for slashing aunt's hand

Ho, Sept. 25, GNA- Kofi Ampofo, unemployed was on Thursday remanded in police custody by a Ho circuit court for causing harm. He is accused of amputating the right arm of his aunt, Asemba Fiah. Police Chief Inspector Victor Quaye Agadzi told the court, presided over by Mr Nicholas M.C. Abodakpi, that the accused and the aunt lived at Tangor in the Kpando District.

He said sometime in November 2000, Mr Hayford Annan, a neighbour, heard a cry from the woman's house and rushed there, only to see the accused person coming out from the aunt's room with a cutlass stained with blood.

The prosecution said when Mr Hayford went into the room he found the woman lying in a pool of blood.

He raised an alarm, which attracted a large crowd who later discovered that the woman's right hand had been slashed with four fingers of the left hand chopped off, Mr Agadzi said.

The prosecution said in his caution statement Ampofo said when he entered his aunt's room, he saw a lion and he went for a cutlass to kill it. He said it was after he had slashed the arm of the lion that he realised it was his own aunt who then changed from lion to a human being.
