Sena Dansua loses bid to return to Parliament

Tourism Minister Akua Sena Dansua has lost her parliamentary seat in the North Dayi constituency after losing the primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The party on Sunday begun the election of parliamentary candidates for the newly created constituencies in the Volta Region ahead of the maturation of the Constitution Instrument (CI) 73 which is expected to give legal backing to some 45 constituencies created by the Electoral Commission.

In one of such primaries held, Madam Dansua lost her bid to return to parliament after her strongest contender George Loh beat her by 12 votes.

She polled 87 votes while Mr Loh, who is a legal advisor to former Attorney General Betty Mould-Iddrisu, polled 99 votes.

A third contender, Dr Gavua also polled 83 votes.
In the Akatsi constituency, District Chief Executive, Peter Nortsu Kotoe beat two contestants to win the Akatsi North seat with 150 votes.

From the Adaklu constituency, Kwame Agbodza who is an architect polled 99 votes whilst Dr Samuel Charles K. Buame, a lecturer at the University of Ghana-Legon polled 8 votes. Emmanuel Sky Ganaku had 4 votes and Raymond Prosper Akpatsa of the Ghana Education Service (GES) polled 39 votes.
