NDC, NPP Fail To Seek Welfare Of People - Bright Akwetey

Bright Akwetey - CPP flagbearer aspirant

Bright Akwetey - CPP flagbearer aspirant A presidential aspirant of the Convention Peoples Party, Mr Bright Akwetey, has slammed the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party for sacrificing the welfare of Ghanaians to other secondary matters.

He has therefore charged the rank and file of the CPP membership to work hard to recapture political power and use it to fight for the welfare of the citizenry.

He said the welfare of the people was paramount, yet the NDC and the NPP have sacrificed it to other secondary matters.

Mr Akwetey was addressing delegates of the party in the northern sector at Hohoe and the Central and Southern sectors at Ho on different occasions as part of preparations for a national delegates conference to be held at Takoradi on May 12, next week.

Mr Bright Akwettey therefore appealed to the electorate to give their mandate to the CPP to safeguard the country’s peace and orderly development.

This he said was because both the NDC and the NPP seemed intent on plunging the country into chaos as a price for power.

He said Ghana had had enough of experiments under the governance of the two political parties and needed qualitative change in leadership that would assert the country’s political, social and economic sovereignty and cohesion similar to the first CPP government under late President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

He added that food, shelter, health, education and agriculture were the philosophy of the CPP government that charted a line of action towards the welfare of the people.

He said the number of wayside retailers on the streets continue to grow and cried that “it must stop, it must change with the CPP” saying that with the NPP or NDC, the value will remain the same.

According to him, an insight into the work of the Attorney General Department had revealed that people had used the governance machinery to siphon state resources to enrich themselves and their families.

He said an obnoxious mining law accentuated by government leadership had led to the exploitation of the state over the years and said that when given the nod, his government, under the CPP, will show more love and sympathy to Ghanaians.

Mr Akwetey charged all party members to make the party attractive, stressing that they should file very good candidates as parliamentary candidates who can articulate themselves well in parliament.

Welcoming the delegates, the Volta Regional chairman of the CPP, Mr Vincent Norgbedzi, commended the delegates for showing up in good numbers, saying it demonstrated the high sense of unity in the party and asked them to maintain the spirit.

He said the election this year is about three political parties, that is, the NPP, NDC and the CPP with the hope that the People National Convention (PNC) will eventually unite with the CPP to form an Nkrumaist front to victoriously contest the elections.
