Football match violence in Egypt kills 25: ministry

CAIRO (AFP) - At least 25 people were killed Wednesday and hundreds injured in clashes after a match between Egypt's Al-Ahly and Al-Masry football teams in Port Said, a health ministry spokesman said in televised remarks.

"There are 25 people dead and hundreds wounded according to the latest figures we received from the hospital," said Hisham Shiha. The Nile News Channel earlier put the death toll at seven.

There were reports of rocks, bottles and fireworks and flares being thrown.
