No more zero votes for CPP under my chairmanship -Dr. Delle

Known in political circles as the 'Old General', the former National Chairman of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Dr. Edmond Delle, says he would put an end to the abysmal performance of the party in general elections, if he regains the chairmanship position of the party.

Speaking to the Brong-Ahafo party regional delegates in Sunyani, as part of his campaign for the chairmanship position at the weekend, Dr. Delle bemoaned the consistent decline of the CPP and its poor performance in general elections.

'I will put the brakes on the declining rate of the CPP, and no more zero votes would be recorded in elections,' the aspiring national chairman assured.

He declared 2012 as a year of growth for the CPP, giving the assurance to have the party once again take a reputable place in the political dispensation of the country.

According to Dr. Delle, the CPP had the men to lead the country, but had allowed the attitude of blame game to surpass their competence for the party, appealing to CPP faithful that it was not time to find faults, but time to stimulate all members to revive the party.

'We are little men carrying out a great cause, so let us stop the blame game and fault finding on personalities. If we want to find the fault, we must first search within ourselves, because the fault is within us,' he stressed.

The aspiring national chairman of the CPP advised that as comrades, members and leaders of the party must try to forgive each other and work in unity for the growth of the party. 'Let's seek first the unity of the CPP, and the rest would be ours, in terms of success,' he added.

He said the CPP would rise and fight again under his chairmanship, because the cause of its dwindling was due to the transgression of the leadership from the pattern of growth and successes instituted by the founding fathers of the party, which he still has and believes in.

According to Dr. Delle, the blame was for all, because the leadership of the CPP departed from its vision, and opted for wrangling, instead of building the party for the younger ones.

The leadership of the CPP had disappointed the younger generation making the party unattractive to them, which had caused the fortunes of the party to dwindle.

He noted that effective communication was the problem of the CPP, explaining that the CPP lacked effective communication, which is the life blood of every organisation, so when given the nod, every constituency would be given a telephone, and constituency organisers given mobile phones to improve on the communication agenda of the party.

Dr. Delle promised to rehabilitate all party vehicles within three months of becoming chairman, and train the young people to propagate the ideals of the party, whilst delegates would own the party, and not the people at the top.

He gave the assurance of being an ambassador who would not sit in the office, but allow the regional chairmen to lead him around all constituencies in their respective regions, to encourage all party faithful to fight and revive the CPP.
