Parents object to plastic waste picking at Nkwantanan School

Some parents with wards at the Nkwantanan D. A. Primary School at Madina, near Accra, are kicking against a directive that pupil should bring plastic waste materials to school every day.

Joy News checks reveal that the school sells the plastic rubber bags, especially used water sachets.

But it was unclear what the money is used for.
The children have been put in groups and the group that brings the most sachet water bags to school gets extra marks.

School authorities declined comment on the matter but parents are worried.

They say the practice could have health implications for the children.
