Police arrest two murder suspects

Sekondi, Nov 4, GNA — The Sefwi-Wiawso Police have arrested two cocoa farmers, Kwasi Attakpame, 45, and Theophilus Tawiah, 25, for allegedly murdering, Kwaku Kye, a-45-year old cocoa farmer at Sefwi Fuakyekrom in the Western Region.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Sekondi on Tuesday about the murder, the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Olivia Adiku, said on Friday, October 29, the two suspects reported to the Sefwi-Wiawso Police that they saw the deceased and Anastasia Attakpame, the wife of Attakpame at about 2330 hours at the deceased's hamlet in a cocoa farm at Fuakyekrom in the Sefwi-Wiawso District.

She said Attakpame told the police that when Kye saw them approaching the hamlet, he and Anastasia took to their heels and he (Attakpame) shot at the deceased who managed to escape unhurt.

Chief Inspector Adiku said the Police and some unit committee members mounted a search and found Kye's decomposing body under some rubbish at Fuakyekrom riddled with gun shots on the face and chest.

She said the body of the deceased was deposited at the Sefwi-Wiawso Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Chief Inspector Adiku said the suspects have been placed in custody to assist in police investigation.
