Rwanda's Kagame says will run for a third term in 2017

Kigali (AFP) - Rwandan President Paul Kagame said he would run for a third term in office in 2017 in line with an amendment to the constitution which won overwhelming backing in a referendum earlier this month.

"You have asked me to lead the country after 2017. Given the importance you ascribe to this matter, I can only accept," he said during a televised address as the nation welcomed in the New Year.
