Four men jailed 22 years for stealing

Kumasi, June 22, GNA - A Kumasi circuit court presided over by Mr Agyei Frimpong has sentenced four men to 22 years in jail on charges of conspiracy to steal, stealing, unlawful damage and unlawful entry.

The convicts and their accomplices pleaded guilty.

They are David Ayinsaga 37, Agumbila 22, David Ayinebila 27 and Raymond Menyam, alias van dame, 30.

Six others are on the run.
Three of the accused were jailed five years each while the fourth accused was sentenced to seven years.

Prosecuting police Chief Inspector Mary Nana Adwoa Affanyi told the court that on December 10, 2008 at about 0115 hours, the complainant in the case had a telephone call from his friend that thieves had broken into his warehouse at Ahenemakokoben and made away with quantities of washing powder.

Bsed on this information, the complainant and his brother proceeded to the warehouse and arrested Ayinsaga and Agumbila, both security men in the area and handed them over to the police for investigation which later led to the arrest of the others.

Police investigation later revealed that the convicts had conspired on December 7, 2008 at about 1900 to break into the warehouse to steal.

Chief Inspector Affanyi further explained that on December 9, 2008 at about 2100 hours, six others currently on the run led the burglary and stole 636 cartons of washing powder which they sped away with in a Nissan truck.
