GAPI Commends Attorney General

Members of the Ghana Association of Phonographic Industry (GAPI) have commended the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, for her insightfulness and resolve to address concerns that are bedevilling the creative industry, especially music in the country.

 In a statement signed by Mr John Mensah Sarpong, President and issued in Kumasi last Wednesday, GAPI said the able manner in which Mrs Mould-Iddrisu addressed stakeholders of the creative industry in Accra recently, demonstrates her deep understanding of the problems facing the industry and her resolve to have them addressed.

 It said the concerns the Minister raised over infighting in the music industry over the same issues for several years without trying to resolve their differences, is a clear demonstration of the Minister's concern for peace in the music industry.

The statement said the Minister's attribution of the problem to self interest and personality clash, which is having negative impact on the music industry, is a wake up call to all stakeholders to come to a consensus to resolve their differences in order to move the industry forward.
 
The statement said the Minister's ultimatum to all stakeholders to submit their inputs and concerns on the draft Legislative Instrument to ensure its speedy passage is in the right direction since that is the only way to streamline activities in the sector.
 
It affirms GAPI's support for the security device which will promote relationship between the artists and producers and help erase mistrust and quarrels between musicians and their executive producers.

The statement called on all stakeholders to give unflinching support to the Minister to lead the crusade in the interest of all creative works.
