Why does Ghana import food and meat?

In spite of our great universities, vast and very rich lands as well as other huge natural resources, Ghana continues to use her scarce resources or scarce hard-earned currencies to import food, meat and fish to feed herself. I strongly believe and think that this very pathetic situation we find ourselves, as a nation, is unacceptable and should not be tolerated any longer.

As a nation, we should do everything possible to rationally change this pathetic situation for the good of all the people of our dear country. As a nation, if we fail to change the said situation for the benefit of all the people, those who will come after us will accuse, blame and give us all kinds of names and even think that probably we had “faulty brain”.

In view of the said pathetic situation which for me is a “mystery”, I would like to appeal to all our media houses to spearhead a national forum on why Ghana is importing food, meat and fish to feed herself to enable us hold the bull by the horn and end this pathetic situation once and for all, because it is shameful.

It does not befit us at all as a nation endowed with huge human and natural resources.

I would also like to suggest that we invite our two Ex-Presidents as well as stake-holders who are experts in agriculture to present a paper on the said situation that we find ourselves, to enable us develop a factual and pragmatic plan to end the said unacceptable and pathetic situation.
