Rev. Frimpong-Manso urges Ghanaians to eschew ethnic sentiments in the society
Right Reverend Dr Yaw
Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of General Assembly of
Presbyterian Church of Ghana, on Sunday, urged Ghanaians to
eschew ethnic sentiments that tended to create disunity in society.
He said “The ethnic sentiments that continue to generate
'flames' at various parts of the country must give way to
reconciliation and respect for one another”.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso made the call when delivering the
sermon on the theme, “The Cleansing Hand of Jesus,” at the
dedication of a 250,000 Ghana Cedis chapel for Salvation
Congregation of Presbyterian Church of Ghana at New Achimota
in Accra.
It was financed through offertory, voluntary contributions and
donations by the congregation.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso pointed out that any ethnic group in
the country was a divine act and despising any ethnic group was
an indictment on God's plan.
He said the Church was an important example where Christians
fellowship together in unity and fully with the Lord in a covenant
relationship.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso urged Christians to seek God's
guidance in achieving their goals in life instead of bemoaning their
weaknesses and past failures.
He said Christians could only overcome social and spiritual
problems when they put on the whole armour of God.
“The forces of evil that assail us today such as armed robbery,
alcoholism, occultism and ethnocentrism are too real to be
ignored. We are powerless over the demons that afflict us with
these problems, so we need Jesus Christ who has a superior
power to help us,” he said.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso advised Christians to be humble
and obey God to receive His mercy and blessings.
“No Christian is totally independent, we need help from each
other and the body of Jesus Christ which is the church functions
well when members work for their common good,” he said.
Rev. Joseph Oduro-Awisi, New Achimota District Minister of
the Church urged Christians to emulate King Solomon and
contribute to the building of the house of God and be more
dedicated to God's work.
