Nana sells 'believe in Ghana' to Nation
This year's electioneering campaign of the governing New Patriotic Party has taken a new dimension with lots of innovation in its messages and activities.
The latest to be unveiled on Friday at the Independence Square is the official launch of the popular slogan of the party, 'Believe in Ghana."
The concept, which was originated by the NPP flagbearer for the 2008 general elections, Nana Akufo-Addo, stems from his firm belief in the Ghanaian spirit of 'we can do it.'
Though he adopted the slogan during the NPP presidential aspirants' contest, this is the first time Nana Akufo-Addo will have the opportunity to explain the concept to the youth, who are the future leaders of the country.
Lord Commey, NPP National Organizer, briefing the media at the party headquarters in Accra yesterday, said the Friday's event mainly seeks to cultivate and inculcate in the youth a sense of pride and patriotism on the need to have the 'can do' spirit in order to move the nation forward.
"I believe in Ghana is about inspiring the younger generation to believe in themselves and the country they belong to,' he stressed.
He went further, 'Nana Addo himself is an example of that 'can do' spirit of the Ghanaian because he was bred locally and rose through the ranks to become President of the United Nations Security Council.'
According to Mr Commey, the NPP flagbearer does not want to own the slogan alone hence, the invitation to all and sundry to be part of the launch on Friday, irrespective of party affiliations. The programme commences at 5pm.
Asked whether special invitation would be sent to opposition political parties, the NPP National Organizer said though the event was associated with the NPP flagbearer, the programme cuts across party lines and urged all those who share in the 'can do' spirit of the Ghanaian to attend.
He said the essence was to get as many compatriots as possible to buy into his wonderful idea saying, 'Nana himself is made in Ghana.'
Nana Addo will use the occasion to tell his story of how he was bred, played and walked in the streets and became associated with the local community of Accra.
Some top musicians are billed to perform live on stage whilst some selected successful young entrepreneurs are also expected to deliver powerful speeches to inspire the audience.
The musicians include Wutah, Praye, Castro, Abodam and many more who have voluntarily decided to grace the occasion because of their conviction of the 'believe in Ghana' slogan.
Meanwhile, Mr Commey has maintained that when Nana Addo was elected the next President, the country would be set to attain greater heights because of what he stands for, and his passion to lead the nation.
