MTN donates towards Odwira festival

The Akuapem Traditional Council on Wednesday commended MTN, a mobile communication service, for their social support towards the development of the country.

The Council was particularly grateful for the support the company had been offering to traditional councils towards the promotion and celebration of their annual festivals.

Nana Awuku Dabanka, Chief of Akropong, gave the commendation on behalf of the council when MTN donated Gh 1,000 cedis and assorted MTN branded souvenirs towards this year's Odwira festival at Akropong.

He promised that the items would be used in a manner to “add colour” to the festival and also to promote the services of MTN during that period.

Ms Mawuena Dumor, Corporate Affairs Manager of MTN, said the undisclosed cost of the assorted branded souvenirs included an MTN phone machine for commercial work to generate funds for the traditional council.

Reiterating the company's commitment to social responsibilities, Ms Dumor indicated that traditional authorities were one of the important stakeholders in development hence their support for the festival.

She said the company would put its expertise to support all the activities lined up for the festival and wished the chiefs and people of the area a happy and fruitful celebration.
