Korle-Bu Chaplain Outdoors Maiden Book

A 93-PAGE BOOK authored by Rev. Dr. Nana Kwesi Bart-Plange, Chaplain of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, has been launched at a ceremony in Accra.

The book, 'Understanding Your Popular Canticles and Hymns' is the first of five books; the remaining of which would be outdoored later in the year.

Launching the maiden book at the auditorium of the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Accra, Rev. Bart-Plange said the reason for which the book was written was to among other things remind Christians about the importance of knowing the true meaning of the various canticles and hymns contained in the Methodist Hymn Book as well as know the circumstances under which the songs were composed and sung by Believers of the early Church.

'The 36 canticles and hymns contained in the Volume 1 of my maiden book, 'Understanding Your Popular Canticles and Hymns' would be helpful, informative and inspirational as well as serve as a devotional material for personal and family use.

'Understanding these canticles and hymns and knowing the conditions under which they were written will enrich your singing and make the lines even more meaningful,' he stated.

He urged Believers of the Gospel especially those in Orthodox Churches to get copies of the book, saying it would go a long way to not only enrich their Christian lives but serve as a great source of inspiration to them, adding, 'The stories and background to these canticles and hymns will increase the interest of all who will sing them either at church, home, office or use them as devotional material'.

Rev. Professor Joshua N. Nudadjie, who wrote the foreword, said: 'The book is good material and I warmly recommend it to all lovers of hymns and canticles, particularly to pastors, preachers, liturgists and choristers'.

Very Rev. Abraham Tagoe, Bishop of the Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church, offered prayers and dedicated the book.

Other speakers included Very Rev. Alfred Aryeetey, Superintendent Minister in-charge of the Cathedral and Rev. Abraham Tetteh, a Circuit Minister of the Church.

The first copy of the book, which was widely patronised by the invited guests, went for GH¢200.

The remaining yet-to-be-launched books authored by Rev. Bart-Plange are 'Understanding Your Popular Canticles and Hymns Volume 2'; 'Drugs/Alcohol And Its Effects'; 'The Tongue As A Source of Blessing' and 'Pastoral Care in Hospitals'.
