John Amekah, the interim Deputy General Secretary for Finance and Administration of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has assured Ghanaians and party loyalists of an incident free national delegates congress expected on April 4 and 5.

He said a committee has been instituted to take care of all aspects of the congress with respect to security, transportation, groundwork, rules and regulation at the Accra Polytechnic campus, venue for the congress. “A committee put in place, mandated to ensure the success of the congress has completed its work” he noted.

Mr Amekah, in an interview with the ADM in Accra last Monday said positions expected to be vied for with the opening of nominations includes; National Chairman , 2 National vice Chairmen, General Secretary, 2 Deputy General Secretaries, National Treasurer, Deputy National Treasurer and National Organizer.

The rests are 2 Deputy National Organizers, National Public Education Officer, 2 deputy National Public Education Officers, National Youth Organiser, 2 Deputy National Youth Organizers, National Women Organizer, and 2 National Women Organizers.

He was not ready for a “guess game” as to whom he thinks might be nursing the dream of becoming the flagbearer of the party.

According to him, DFP is a national party with a national identity bent on wining political power in the December general elections, adding that the party will not be swayed by cheap political propaganda, “people believe and trust the party, if any body thinks he can use any means to pin down the party, that person must be joking….DFP is positioning itself for the task ahead and to meet the demands of the good people of Ghana.”

He told politicians to conduct their campaigns in civility “Ghanaians are wild awake, focus on issues rather than insults, foul language, and violence…it will not take us anywhere.”

In answer to a question on alliance in the impending elections, Mr. Amekah said “no alliance at all, we are going to contest the presidential elections.”

He argued that an alliance should be in the interest of the nation and not for the satisfaction of a person or some group of persons

Filing of nominations for all party positions including the flagbearer slot is expected to end on March 31.
