Adenta MP Supports Council

THE ADENTA Assembly of the Logos Rhema Church, a charismatic Christian organisation has presented an amount of GH¢530 to the Adenta Zonal Council as part of its contribution to the setting up of the Adenta Municipal Assembly, which would be inaugurated this month.

The donation was made on behalf of the church by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adenta, Hon. Kojo Opare-Hammond, who is also a pastor of the same church.

The money was the church members' first fruits of the year, which according to the MP, were usually used for charity work.

According to him, the church, without any prompting, decided to donate the amount to the assembly to help it solve some of the initial financial problems it might face during the take-off.

The donation was received by the Chairman of the Zonal Council, Rev. Nii Sowah Odoi, on behalf of the assembly. He appealed to other well-meaning residents to also assist the assembly when it finally becomes operational, and noted that as a new municipality, the assembly would face a lot of logistical and financial problems.

He however hoped that the people of the area would not hesitate to go to its aid.

In a related development, Mr. Opare-Hammond has held a meeting with the Adenta Zonal Council, Assembly Members and other stakeholders within and around the Adenta municipality, to discuss the challenges that would face the new municipality.

Other personalities present at the meeting included members of the clergy and experts in local government administration.

The soon-to-be-inaugurated Adenta Municipal Assembly was
carved out of the then Tema Municipal Assembly, which has also been elevated to the status of a metropolis.

So far, office and residential accommodation and sources of generating revenues have been found as the main challenges of the new municipality.

Mr. Opare-Hammond said the sub-office of the then TMA at Adenta would temporarily serve as the official building of the assembly while awaiting a permanent office complex to house the various offices that would make up the assembly.

He reiterated the call by Rev. Odoi on all stakeholders to help the assembly to stand on its feet.By Sylvanus Nana Kumi & Ethel Kangberee
