Kufuor tries to restore calm to Kenya

The Chairman of the African Union, President Kufuor is meeting with President Mwai Kibaki and the opposition leader, Raila Odinga to come out with ways to best restore peace in Kenya. During an interview the Presidential Press Secretary, Andrew Awuni said Ghana is making strides in international politics and diplomacy.

Mr. Awuni stated that President Kufuor was able to bring feuding factions like President Omar Bashir of Sudan, Idris Derbi of Chad and Francois Bozize of Central African Republic to sit at a round table to talk peace at the Franco-Africa Summit. According to him, the President's state visit to UK raised the stature of Ghana at the international level, the G-8 Summit in Germany and the EU-AU Summit in Lisbon, Portugal.


Mr. Awuni said President Kufuor would be leaving the AU Chair having secured a roadmap that the African heads of States can adopt to for a Union Government of Africa.
