An NGO To the Rescue

Responding to the sporadic supply of potable water by the Ghana Water Company to residents of Accra and its suburbs, the Society For The Assistance For Orphans And Disabled, an Accra-based (NGO), has funded the construction of a well at Nii Boye Town to alleviate the suffering of the people as far as their water needs are concerned.

Handing over the well to the community, the Executive Director of the NGO, Hajj Abubakar Batalima (Alias Love Me), expressed the confidence that the community would find the well useful.

Hajj Batalima advised the people to rely on the well for washing and other hygienic purposes.
Noting that the population of the community is predominantly Moslems, Hajj Batalima, said the well was deliberately strategically sited near the Nii Boye Town Mosque so as to make it easier for Islamic faithfuls to desist from using scarcely-available treated water for their ablutions before prayers.
An elder of the community, Alhaji Abudu, who symbolically 'received' the well on behalf of the community, thanked the NGO for coming to the aid of the community.

Observing that water is life, Alhaji Abudu stressed that the provision of a well for the people of the community would help to improve the quality of life of the people.

Alhaji Abudu prayed for Allah's guidance for Hajj Batalima and his NGO.

Hajj Batalima revealed that the Nii Boye Town well, which was said to have cost about fifteen million old cedis (¢15,000.000.00) or one hundred and fifty thousand new Ghana cedis (N¢150,000.00), is the fourteenth that his NGO has constructed for various communities across the country.
