Engineer falls from footbridge


Mr. Patris Gian Franco, 53, an expatriate engineer of the Sarroch Gelfi-JV Construction firm, fell headlong from a raised footbridge in Kumasi on Monday afternoon.

He sustained head injuries and collapsed after falling from a height of about 30 metres while working on a raised steel pipes.

A worker of the firm who pleaded anonymity told GNA that the worker slipped and fell from a beam adjoining two raised pipes.

He said Mr. Franco, who was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, was in a stable condition.

The incident brought to an end the day's work on the Asafo-Market Interchange and footbridge project at the Railways station yard at Adum, Kumasi, being executed by the firm.
