Abodakpi's lawyer to petition Chief Justice

Lawyer for incarcerated MP for Keta, Dan Abodakpi is set to make a formal complaint to the Chief Justice over allegations of bias he has made against one of three judges hearing his client's appeal.

Barring any last minute hitches, Tony Lithur will submit his application to the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood by close of day today.

The lawyer stunned the Appeals Court on Tuesday when he accused Justice Henrietta Abban of influencing High Court Judge, Justice S.T. Farkye's ruling against his client, Dan Abodakpi.

The Keta MP is serving a 10-year-jail term for causing financial loss to the state.

Mr. Lithur told the Appeals Court that Justice Henrietta Abban called out Justice Farkye in the middle of his ruling and he has evidence that she influenced the judgment.

The lawyer wants Justice Abban to withdraw from the panel hearing the appeal. He also wants her to face a mini-trial at which he will prove that she influenced Justice Farkye's judgment.

Justice Abban has denied the allegations and says she is prepared to face the mini-trial.
