Disregard vote buyers – Apraku Loyalists

Supporters of Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, one of the aspirants for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential slot, have called on delegates to the impending party congress to disregard aspirants who would use money and other gifts to solicit votes.

The group, christened Loyalists of Konadu Apraku (LOKA), urged delegates to use their discretions and vote for a candidate who had the capability to win the 2008 general elections.

"LOKA is therefore appealing to all delegates to shirk candidates who will come and shower gifts and money to get their votes.

"Dr. Apraku is the only candidate among the lot who can lead the NPP to a resounding victory in the 2008 elections, due to the selfless, dedicated and diligent leadership he exhibited in his previously held ministerial positions," Mohammed A. Yakubu and Abdulai A. Rahaman remarked in a joint statement to the press recently.

Expressing their unflinching support for the presidential hopeful, the group called on delegates to vote massively for him at the congress, which is slated for December this year.

The group stressed that “Dr. Apraku's vision is to transform the country by reducing poverty within the shortest possible time through the enhancement of education and its accompanying factors, as well as the prioritisation of agriculture and healthcare delivery in the country.

"He will also explore an alternative and a more renewable source of energy like solar, wind and bio-fuel for Ghana's re-industrialisation and socio-economic development drive."

According to LOKA, their appeal to delegates to give Dr. Apraku the mandate to lead the NPP was based also on his desire to improve the country's human resources, especially issues that concern the youth. It noted the enormity of the aspirant's experience, his contributions and clear-cut records, coupled with his eagerness to improve the living standards of Ghanaians, made him the appropriate person to lead the party.

"Dr. Apraku is indeed a man of action who has the competence to revive all collapsed industries and factories across the country, so as to create revenue and employment for the state.

"LOKA believes he is the only candidate who can unite the party during and after the congress, thereby entrenching the NPP in power beyond eight (8) years, due to the humility he has shown not only to NPP members, but all Ghanaians, especially the youth."
